Spanish artist carves a rug into wooden floors

People expect rugs to be placed on the floor, but the Spanish artist Selva Aparicio surprised the world by hand carving a tapestry directly into oakwood flooring.

Entitled “Childhood Memories”, she creates thought-provoking installations that bring different issues, environmental, political, and social issues to light.

She said this piece of art is about covering and exposing childhood trauma and bearing witness. Surprisingly, many people fell in love with the detailed design and the impressive skill that the rug displays, but some people also feel like it's such a waste of time.
