Sculptures inspired by Brazilian indigenous art.
Toco Oco, a collaborative project by Brazilian artists Lara Alcântara and Guilherme Neumann, creates an alternate world populated by fantastical animalistic creatures. With the combination of wood, resin, fabric, clay, and wax, these sculptures come in doll-sized and added garments that are later colored in child-like doodles to express a vast array of emotions that grapple with the strange universe they find themselves in.Each character has their own story and is inspired by indigenous art from and beyond Brazil, their work includes mystical, natural, and spiritual symbolism, attempting to recover the connection between the human and the divine.Written by: Fergie Virgiyana
